BAM IS NOT A TYPICAL MUSIC SCHOOL!
The Bulverde Academy of Music, BAM! is a unique music instructional facility located at 28152 HWY 281 in the Hill Country Square shopping area. We offer serious music lessons, with an emphasis on live performances in several genres.
AT BAM!
Our instructors are all accomplished professional musicians with a combined stage performance history that is decades long. Our curricula cover all spectrums of the live performance fields which include Bluegrass, Country, Western Swing, Rock, Jazz, Funk, Fusion and Orchestral/Classical.
WE OFFER MUSIC LESSONS THAT COVER:
Violin, Viola, Upright Bass, Electric Bass, Drums and Percussion (Kit & Marching), Piano, Guitar, Voice, Trumpet, Mandolin, Country & Western Swing Fiddling. Along with applied live performance techniques, we teach harmony & music theory, composition and transposition.
The BAM! objective is to provide students with an individualized program designed to provide the best over-all advancement opportunities and that means being flexible rather than rigid in our approach. So, we teach by notation as well as playing by ear. We have developed teaching methodologies that combine the traditional with methods that are uniquely our own.

This academy is a where I learned to be a professional musician. Although I was classically trained through high school and college, when I wanted to pursue a music career, I realized that I would be far more successful if I was more versatile and able to play and teach other genres in addition to classical. BAM gave me the opportunity to learn those other genres and develop my improv skills and the ability to play by ear and not just off the page. The combination of the lab bands and private lessons allowed me to apply the skills I was learning in a way that would directly prepare me for professional stage. I have applied those skills for 17 years in a variety of performance situations. After the passing of our founder, I'm pleased to be able to keep in existence the place that changed my life trajectory and to continue to offer in one location the best teachers around, who are also top-notch live performers. With our stage experience, we're able to save our students years and are able to customize their training for their specific targets and goals. Our reputation for success at BAM is amazing. With a world-class recording studio on location, we're also able to offer the latest Pro-Tools audio training courses as well as student rates for CD's, demo's, etc. We also offer courses for engineering and producing. Everything a serious music student (at any skill level) would need is here and it's such a reward for us to see so many of them out touring, recording, composing and making a difference in our community and abroad.
